I found “Ajax in Action” and “Foundations of Ajax” indispensable resources in learning about AJAX. These are great books that walk you through the whole AJAX thing, explaining the basics in detail and illustrating the technology with hundreds of examples and code snippets.

Cribot.com is a result of just a couple of weeks of perusing these books :). Check it out!

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Everything I even needed to know about Ajax I learned from MSDN.

    In 1999.

I highly recommend Emil and Erik since they’ve been at it since 1998 or so. They’ve written some pretty amazing things in what they still call dynamic HTML.

There are some really good podcasts about Ajax over at the Polymorphic Podcast.

The earlier ones start from the very beginning concepts and as you move up the list the shows get into more detail, but all are a good listen for the beginner :)
